Bangladesh population now 14.23cr

The population of Bangladesh is now 14 crore, 23 lakh and 19 thousand (142.3 million), according to the latest census report.

Of them, 7 crore, 12 lakh and 55 thousand are male while 7 crore, 10 lakh and 64 thousand female.

Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) published the preliminary report on the country’s 5th Population and Housing Census, 2011 at a press conference at the NEC auditorium in the city’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

In the fourth Population and Housing Census, 2001, the population of Bangladesh is stated 12.43 crore.

The annual population growth is 1.34 percent and population density is 964 people per square kilometre.

The final report would be published in September or October, said Planning Minister AK Khandker while speaking at the news conference in the morning.
