JEDDAH: Legendary Saudi singer Talal Maddah’s album “Menak Ya Hajer” was released posthumously on the Funoon Al-Jazeera label. Maddah, who was also nicknamed “The Voice of the Earth” and “The Golden Throat,” was born in 1940 and died in 2000. He was a prominent and pioneering singer in the Arab world.
The 10-song album includes old compositions found in Maddah’s archive and others that are brand new. “Menak Ya Hajer” was composed in the early 90s but was not finished because of the first Gulf War.
