Shaista Amber, national president of All India Muslim Women Personal Law BoardLUCKNOW: Shaista Amber, national president of All India Muslim Women Personal Law Board, on Tuesday appealed to Muslims to come forward and support Anna Hazare’s anti-corruption movement. Her reaction came after Delhi Jama Masjid’s Shahi Imam Syed Ahmed Bukhari’s urged Muslims to ‘refrain themselves’ from the Anna’s anti-graft campaign as it was anti-Muslim.

Amber was supported by 30 board members when she came to Jhulelal Park, the protest site where member of India Against Corruption are sitting on fast. Addressing the congregation there, she said, “Anna’s movement is against corruption, which everyone faces. It is not a question of one community. We pray for Anna’s better health, so that he stands by us for long and help us getting rid of the menace called corruption.” For the success of the movement, a special prayer was also held in the ground.

Adding further, Amber said, “Bukhari’s statement is illogical and everyone has a right to freedom of speech and expression.” She also accused the Congress government of insulting and exploiting the Muslim community On Bukhari’s statement that Anna Hazare was working on RSS and BJP’s behalf and his slogans was `anti-Islamic’, Amber countered that the Holy Koran said that one should fight against wrong practices and corruption was one of them.
