The Saudi Binladin Group has been awarded a contract to build the first phase of a rail line linking the Haramain train route with a metro in Mecca, a senior member of the Mecca government has said.
“The Ministry of Finance has already awarded the project to Binladin Group,” said Abdullah Serajeddin, chief executive officer of Albalad Alameen Development and Urban Regeneration at the Mecca Municipality, al-Eqtisadiah reported, without stating the value of the project.
All railways projects across need government support and cannot be handled by the private sector alone, Serajeddin added.
Jeddah-based Saudi Binladin Group, Saudi Arabia’s largest construction firm, in August was awarded the contract to Kingdom Tower, which will replace Dubai’s Burj Khalifa as the world’s tallest building.
