‘Kasoti’ famed Obaidullah Baig passes away

 Obaidullah Baig ‘Kasoti’ famed Obaidullah Baig, a famous writer, intellectual, columnist, media expert and journalist passed away here on Friday.

He migrated from India and settled in Karachi after independence. He won countrywide fame in the era of 1970s and was famous for his outstanding programme ‘Kasoti,’ aired by the state-run television.

Baig was suffering from cardiac complications and cancer for some time. He left behind wife and three daughters Maryam Baig, Fatima Adarsh and Amina Baig.

His funereal prayer was held at Sultan Masjid and was laid to rest at a local graveyard.

He was also awarded ‘Pride of Performance’ achievement award besides various prestigious honours.
