Aamir Khan to meet PM on problems of manual scavengers

Bollywood Star Aamir Khan will meet Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday (July 16) to highlight concerns of manual scavengers engaged in cleaning excreta.

“We had sought an appointment with the Prime Minister and Aamir would be meeting him tomorrow morning,” said the actor’s spokesperson.

In a recent episode of his TV show Satyamev Jayate, the 47-year-old actor had focused on the life of over three lakh manual scavengers who do the work of cleaning excreta even today and are considered as untouchables by many in the society.
