Hamid Ansari to take oath as Vice-President of India today

Hamid AnsariNew Delhi: Mohammed Hamid Ansari will be sworn in as the 14th Vice-President today after he was re-elected on Tuesday. This is his second consecutive term as the Vice-President, only the second to do so after Dr S Radhakrishnan.

Mr Ansari will take oath to office at 11 am today. In an almost one-sided contest Mr Ansari got 490 votes out of the 788 valid votes cast in the elections. His opponent, the NDA’s Jaswant Singh, a BJP leader and former Union Minister, got only 238 votes.
